High-grade "LIONESS"

2011 SA fashion week Spring/Summer 2011

 DAVID TLALE
"South Africa's premier diva and renowned designer David Tlale", brought fierce back to the festival this year ending the week with his closing show which was showcased on the outstanding Nelson Mandela bridge. The chosen venue may sound appeasing but what is the perfect location without the perfect show. Reports from the public suggest how for the most hyped and looked forward to event of the SA fashion week it was terribly executed. There was too many models, 92, as it was meant to be signifacant to Madiba's birthday. There wasn't any extra lighting contributed for the show so, unless you were in the front row, there wasn't a need for you to be there. As long as in Africa you will abide by the African time; David Tlale's exhibition was scheduled to begin 2 hours before it actually did.

However, moving away from the negatives Tlale's designs still had his mindless sense of creativity and style. In this collection he uses the colour red troughout his works which highlights how its apparent that red will be the trend colour this winter season. Textures he uses are easy to waer and comforatble and light considering the season. This line appers equistrian/ Victorian inspired.

LOIN CLOTHS & ASHES

Loin Cloths & Ashes is another designer who repeatedly manages to blow away their audeience. This years line left the audience in awe and LC&A even recieved a standing ovation at the bus factory. Their garments shifted away from the expected dull gloomy mood of fall/winter. In contrast, eath tones were explored and their consistent use of shades of blue gave it a sensational feel. LC&A accomplished to re define winter fashion through the classy make up artisy and the addition of unexpected winter accessories like shades and sunglasses.
